We are contacting you because we want you to know more about us. In our return to Brazil, colleagues who had the same privilege of studying in Japan have created alumni associations in various Brazilian states.

Presently, I am the president of the Japan-Brazil Alumni Association of Brasilia (ABRAEX), a congregation of colleagues who had the same experiences as you are now going through. We have all taken academic or specialization courses in Japan, including master’s and Ph.D. degrees, and now would like you to get to know the communities we have created.

We want to keep alive our past experiences and deepen our cultural and academic relationship, to publicize new MEXT scholarships, to create or cooperate with cultural events, and to inform and exchange ideas with new scholars before their departure.

This union strengthen ourselves and provides us with means to assist a colleague who may be looking for orientation and information we might have, or an encouragement for carrying on his or her studies during this great opportunity.

On March 3, 2007 we have held the 1st National Meeting of the Japanese Government Alumni Associations, with the support of the Japanese Embassy in Brasilia. During the summit we decided to create a national entity to congregate existing associations throughout Brazil. We want to strengthen individual potentials and to create more participation opportunities for everyone in our group, and will create a national database, which in the future should be available for international browsing. We understand this is a positive way to provide our members with better opportunities, be in the marketplace, in academic or technical exchange, in courses, or in common projects development.
